Welcome to this week’s blog. Here we are once again, in the season where all of mankind celebrates the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ and Savior, also known as Immanuel (God with Us) throughout the heavens. For the entire world, as far north is to the south, and as far as the east is to the west, this is a glorious, spectacular event celebrated in heaven, and on earth according to the biblical account of Jesus of Nazareth's birth. Let us hear the angels sing. Let our hearts be filled with splendor and joy as we look to the heavens while our loved ones are spending Christmas this year with Jesus Christ, Immanuel.
In the New King James Bible, the Book of Isaiah tells us - Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. – Isaiah 7:14 (NKJ).
Did you know that in the Book of Luke, through God’s instruction, Arc Angel Gabriel went to Mary and Joseph and said, And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. – Luke 1:31 (NKJ).
Since 2005, every year at this time, I am compelled to share a simple, but complex experience of a deep loss I feel since my third son, Bryce Lee, returned home. The first morning thoughts that comes to my mind, and the first words from my lips is: “I wonder what Christmas is like in Heaven?” As my body awakens, and I’m rubbing my eyes, the topic delves deeper into my early morning thoughts, and what it truly means to spend Christmas in Heaven with God, our Lord and Savior. It must be an experience none of us can even begin to imagine.
Both my husband and I have witnessed, and felt the heart-breaking experience of having a loved one returning home much too soon, before their time. His wife, and my third son, both returned home to be with Christ long before their time.
But in Heaven, time as we know it, does not exist in seconds, minutes, hours or even days, weeks, months or years. Both of our close family members returned home according to God’s divine timing. We truly trust and believe their work here was complete. It was God who called them both home. Both of us believe and have a peace of mind in the knowledge that God’s plan for each of our lives was and is perfectly orchestrated from the very beginning. We believe God’s plans are always flawless, intentional and purposeful for His glory. And His plan is nothing short of a beautiful and mystical plan that is perfected far beyond our limited understanding.
1 John 4:9 (NIV) tells us this - This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
You ask, how does this relate to my thoughts this morning regarding “Christmas in Heaven?”
There have been many poems written about the Heavenly Christmas experience. Each captures its own essence and beauty, but one of my favorites goes like this. It's as if Bryce Lee is sharing his heavenly experience with mamma.
Christmas in Heaven
I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below, With tiny lights like heaven’s stars reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular please wipe away that tear, For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear, But the sounds of music can’t compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you of the joy their voices bring, For it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart, For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I can’t tell you of the splendor or the peace here in this place, Can you just imagine Christmas with our Savior face to face?
I’ll ask Him to lift your spirit as I tell you of your love, So, then pray for one another as you lift your eyes above.
Please let your hearts be joyful and let your spirit sing, For I am spending Christmas in heaven and I’m walking with the King.

This poem “Christmas in Heaven” written by Wanda Bencke, has appeared on the Internet in many different forums. The above poem is her original. The author says the poem is based on her true experience. “Lysandra Kay Bencke was my thirteen-year-old handicapped daughter. On Christmas day 1997, Lysandra had a seizure and was in a coma for five days before she died. During those five days, I wrote the poem, ‘Christmas in Heaven.’ I sent it out in belated Christmas cards that year. They also sent it on to other friends and relatives.”
In closing, For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6 (NKJ)
Christmas Blessings to All this Beautiful Season,
