Graceful Perseverance: COVID-19 - A Biblical Pandemic?-03/15

Welcome to this week’s blog. Today I am writing about the Global Outbreak of COVID-19, and how this Pandemic is a sign in the Bible! Those who study the scriptures, and follow Jesus, know faithfully what is to take place before Jesus returns or what many believers refer to as Signs of the End of the Age.

If you follow scripture and biblical history like my husband and I do, you already realize that this global Pandemic, COVID-19, is truthfully what Jesus refers to as a disease that is, and will strike the earth before He returns. Jesus clearly tells us, and shows us end time signs we can expect as we get closer to end of the age. But please note that I am not at all date setting, but simply sharing with you what God clearly tells us in His word. It is my hope that you will take heed to His warning, be not alarmed, and rely less on your fears, and more on biblical facts. We as believers, His children, must trust in God’s promises.

He said there will be wars, nation rising up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines, and an increase in the number of earthquakes. Christians will be persecuted and hated by all nations because of their love for Jesus.

Jesus tells us that many will turn away from their faith, and betray and hate each other. There will be many false messiahs, and false prophets appearing to deceive many where ever and whenever possible. It will only be the faithful, and the wise, who will know the difference. Wickedness will increase, and the love for others will grow cold. But with all of this unfolding in this generation, the last generation according to scripture, Jesus tells us, “Do not be alarmed!”

In the Book of Matthew 24: 3, 6-24, and 29-35, Jesus tells his disciples what will take place, and what are the signs of His coming, and of the end of the age (the last generation):

3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.

10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,

11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.

12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,

13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

15 So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’

spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—

16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house.

18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak.

19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!

20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.

21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.

22 If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.

23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it.

24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

29 Immediately after the distress of those days ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

30 Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.

31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.

34 Truly I tell you; this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Today the world is watching the COVID-19 Pandemic (pestilence and disease) spread to more than 100 countries around the globe. By the hour, we watch countries report new cases, and new deaths are rising dramatically. We are watching countries go into lock-down. Many are panicking, while we watch the virus spread like wild fire. Others are self-quarantining, and social distancing for the safety of themselves, their families and their communities. Then there’s others who think this is not serious, and somehow COVID-19 will magically just go away.

I do believe we are the last generation experiencing first-hand biblical prophecy. But do not be shaken, as God’s word warns us these things will take place. He truly tells us that this generation will not pass away until all of these fearful events (wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes) have happened unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. The world is now ravaged by the many natural disasters. Coincidence, not at all!

Let’s take a look at each one of these prophesied, biblical, global catastrophes.

Wars – Wars have increased, nation fighting against nation, and kingdom against kingdom (i.e. kingdom of heaven vs. the kingdom of hell or good against evil). If you’re 50 years of age or older, of course you have been a witness to many wars, but for sure wars are also on the rise.

When we look at good vs. evil, today, compared to history, we are witnessing a massive rise in sin and wickedness. Societies today have widely accepted or have turned a blind eye to drugs, crime, cults, false religions, false God’s, pornography, racketeering, embezzlement, theft, prostitution, idolatry, adultery, infidelity, suicides, sexual sins, sinful behaviors, and the absolute worse, turning away from God. This is now the 21st Century new norm. Our governments and religious groups are at war. World leaders are at war, and failing miserably to step up and do the right thing. Our government is more concerned in keeping the economy alive, over choosing to protect the safety of people, their families and communities during this Pandemic.

Famines – We, in this generation, are eye witnesses to one of the most horrific global famines since biblical times. And the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over Egypt so that locusts swarm over the land and devour everything growing in the fields, everything left by the hail.” – Exodus 10:12.

Today swarms of locusts are attacking the middle east. Locusts are breeding and multiplying exponentially, threatening food security and their crops. Today this famine is devastating these countries: Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Uae, Iran and Pakistan.

The situation remains extremely alarming in the Horn of Africa, specifically Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia where widespread breeding is in progress, and new swarms are starting to form, representing an unprecedented threat to food security and livelihoods at the beginning of the upcoming cropping season. - Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – Locus Watch as of March 2020.

Pestilences – COVID-19 has now been declared a Pandemic. Every country and every nation around the world are now experiencing this life changing event that was foretold in the Bible as a sign, and precursor to the Second Coming of Christ. The Bible does warn us that this will happen before end times, much sickness and disease. Do I believe the Corona Virus is biblical? Yes, I do. I believe it definitely, and undeniably mirrors scripture, such as Matthew 24, Luke 21, and the Book of Revelation.

God said this would happen before He returns. For those of us who know and study scripture, we trust and rely on God’s word, not man. God tells us to not lean on our own understanding, but to trust in the Lord with all of our heart, and He will keep our path straight. I do believe Christ when He said the world will see these things before we pass away.

But the good news is, we will ALL hear the gospel before His return. Therefore, be not surprised when you see these things! Here’s what God tells us in scripture: And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

Earthquakes – According to Luke 21:11 (NIV), There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. Here’s what Hal Lindsey, the world's best-known Bible prophecy teacher and author of 17 books on prophecy, writes in one of his latest books:

Earthquakes continue to increase in frequency and intensity, just as the Bible predicts for the last days before the return of Christ. History shows that the number of killer quakes remained fairly constant until the 1950's - averaging between two to four per decade. In the 1950's, there were nine. In the 1960's, there were 13. In the 1970's, there were 51. In the 1980's, there were 86. From 1990 through 1996, there have been more than 150. 1 – Hal Lindsey

Jesus tells us in Matthew 24 and Revelation 6, everything that will happen is leading up to the Great Tribulation. God also tells us in great detail about the Seven Seals, and what takes place as each seal is opened.

The Seven Seals of Revelation, come from the scroll that only one person can open; the Lamb of God who was slain, Jesus Christ. As the Apostle John saw the Lord open the seals, he saw the events of each of the seven seals, and recorded what he saw according to the command of the Lord. These seven seals lead up to, and include the rapture, as the 6th and 7th seals are the rapture.

The first four seals represent what I’ve been noting in this blog, and we are all witnessing today - famine (Swarming Locus) and disease and pestilence (COVID-19):

1. RELIGIOUS DECEPTION – 1st Seal

2. WARS – 2nd Seal

3. FAMINE – 3rd Seal

4. PESTILENCE – 4th Seal

Take off your blinders people! God is pleading! He's pleading with all of us just as He did in the days of Noah.

We can all see there’s many types of famines, pestilences, and pandemics now sweeping across our globe. But only a few of us recognize that these events are signs leading up to the Second Coming. How many more signs and wonders do you need to see first-hand before you believe and confess God is truly the one in control, and not man?

Blessings until next week,
